Kurogane Communication actually came out in the late 90s after the EVA boom in Japan, so it was timely in that sense.

Is Riot Grrl getting popular again? I wasn't sure. I know it was HUGE in the indie and punk scenes back in the 90s especially in the Pacific Northwest (Olympia, Seattle, and Portland being major hubs). Some other bands I know were involved in that movement were Bratmobile, Heavens to Betsy, and Sleater-Kinney (people forget Carrie Brownstein from Portlandia was in that band).

That's great. A follow-up post would be cool.Curtis M.http://cmbbwrites.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905416493038831261.post-5948585455623719242018-11-25T15:45:13.020-06:002018-11-25T15:45:13.020-06:00I'm honored to be compared to the gems you rev...I'm honored to be compared to the gems you review on Iridium Eye!

Man, it's hard to believe the early 2000's were that long ago. I'll have to look up both Cubix and Kurogane Communication sometime. Can't go wrong with a happy end-of-the-world show, right? :P

Didn't know Riot Grrl wasn't that popular until that recently! How interesting! I feel like a lot of the bands I liked when I was younger were influenced by that movement.

Yes, the voice acting was excellent! Looking forward to talking more about ways the film could have improved this Friday!Jeannette Jonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16223040243180418535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905416493038831261.post-80378448179678962018-11-20T16:24:55.338-06:002018-11-20T16:24:55.338-06:00Sure thing. Cubix was a show in the early 00s that I saw a few episodes of when I was a kid. Kurogane Communication is definitely a good and underrated series. It's the happiest end-of-the-world show ever!

That does seem random. Bikini Kill is a 90s punk band that was one of the forerunners of the whole Riot Grrl (yes, that's how it's spelled) that involved all-female punk bands. I didn't even know they had a song on Rock Band.

I see. Good to know that there was good voice acting though!Curtis M.http://cmbbwrites.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905416493038831261.post-89104360062065467602018-11-19T19:57:00.992-06:002018-11-19T19:57:00.992-06:00I'd never heard of it, and I was surprised to ...I'd never heard of it, and I was surprised to see how recent of a film it was. This is where I show my behind-the-times movie/anime viewings though: I've never heard of either Cubix or Kurogane Communication! *blush*

Haha, yeah, Bikini Kill's certainly something I was surprised to see crop up. Here's where I show how woefully out of touch I am on the music scene too... I was first introduced to them via playing "Rebel Girl" on Rockband!

It really is a shame Next Gen didn't reach its full potential; it really had some great things going for it. I didn't get a chance to mention her specifically, but Charlyne Yi's performance as Mai? Absolutely fantastic.Jeannette Jonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16223040243180418535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905416493038831261.post-1916217665368769442018-11-18T19:27:51.792-06:002018-11-18T19:27:51.792-06:00I had never heard of this movie before. The whole ...I had never heard of this movie before. The whole concept of a person finding companionship certainly isn't a new thing like Cubix or even the underrated Kurogane Communication. Okay, the latter is a justified half-parody of Evangelion, but that's besides the point. Hahaha! I liked the points you brought up about this film. I also never thought I'd see Bikini Kill mentioned in a movie like this. It's a shame that this film didn't reach it's potential.Curtis M.http://cmbbwrites.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
